It is an enterprise ontology structure that provides a way of viewing an enterprise and its information systems from different perspectives and showing how the components of the enterprise are related.<\/p>\n<h3>6 Rows (viewpoint) + 6 Columns (W5H) + 6 Rules<\/h3>\n<p>Zachman Framework is a two-dimensional classification scheme for descriptive representations of an Enterprise that is structured as a matrix containing 36 cells, each of them focusing on one dimension or perspective of the enterprise. Rows are often presented as different viewpoints involved in the systems development process, while columns represent different perspectives of the stakeholders involved in the organization. We should also be mindful of the 6 rules when using the Zachman framework.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The rows of Zachman Framework focus on describing the enterprise from six viewpoint perspectives of the stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>These six perspectives are based on English language interrogatives \u2018what\u2019, \u2018where\u2019, \u2018who\u2019, \u2018when\u2019, \u2018why\u2019, and \u2018how\u2019 (known as W5H).<\/li>\n<li>A Zachman Framework has 6 rules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>6 Rows (Viewpoints)<\/h3>\n<p>Each row represents a distinct view of the organization, from the perspective of different stakeholders. These are ordered in the desired priority sequence. A row is allocated to each of the following stakeholders:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Scope Contexts \u2013 External Requirements and Drivers<\/li>\n<li>Business Concepts \u2013 Business Process Models<\/li>\n<li>System Logic \u2013 Requirements Definition<\/li>\n<li>Technology Physics \u2013 Solution Definition and Development<\/li>\n<li>Component Assemblies \u2013 As-built and deployment<\/li>\n<li>Operations Classes \u2013 functioning Enterprise and Evaluation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>6 Columns<\/h3>\n<p>The columns represent the interrogatives or questions that are asked of the enterprise. These are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What (data) \u2013 what is the business data, information or objects?<\/li>\n<li>How (function) \u2013 how does the business work, i.e., what are the business\u2019 processes?<\/li>\n<li>Where (network) \u2013 where are the business operations?<\/li>\n<li>Who (people) \u2013 who are the people that run the business, what are the business units and their hierarchy?<\/li>\n<li>When (time) \u2013 when are the business processes performed, i.e., what are the business schedules and workflows?<\/li>\n<li>Why (motivation) \u2013 why is the solution the one chosen? How was that derived from?
