The books have been written and designed to help students learn English in the most effective and interesting way. Below is a brief description of the sections in each study unit at the Secondary 4 level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre-tasks: Various resources and activities are used to present to students the theme of the unit, and then expand and deepen their understanding.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pre\u2010reading<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>introduces the unit theme through <a href=\"https:\/\/teflhorizons.com\/blog\/2019\/1\/6\/5-lead-in-ideas-to-jump-start-your-lesson\">lead-in activities<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>provides opportunities for students to share their experiences and opinions about the theme; and<\/li>\n<li>introduces basic reading skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reading<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provides a range of reading texts;<\/li>\n<li>presents targeted vocabulary items and grammar structures in these texts; and<\/li>\n<li>tailors the comprehension exercises to the<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hong_Kong_Diploma_of_Secondary_Education\"> HKDSE<\/a> Paper 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Listening and integrated skills<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>asks students to write a short text by making use of the reading materials and listening task; and<\/li>\n<li>tailors to the HKDSE Paper 3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vocabulary development<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>extracts relevant vocabulary items from the reading texts;<\/li>\n<li>introduces vocabulary-building skills; and<\/li>\n<li>provides contextualized exercises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Text type and grammar review<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>studies the structures and writing style of a specific text type;<\/li>\n<li>introduces relevant grammar structures with explanatory notes and contextualized exercises; and<\/li>\n<li>asks students to make use of the targeted grammar items in the final task.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><iframe style=\"width: 100%; height: 750px; border: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/online.visual-paradigm.com\/share\/book\/secondary-english-4-unit-2-z9gwk4o5?enforceShowPromotionBar=true\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7481,"template":"","meta":{"_yoast_wpseo_title":"","_yoast_wpseo_metadesc":"You can share the best ideas and insights with flipbooks like this one just few clicks your can share on social media.
