They can also do night feeds.<\/li>\n<li>makes feeding your baby in public places less inconvenient occasionally when other people are around.<\/li>\n<li>supplements breastfeeding if exclusive breastfeeding is not feasible after resuming work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Some mothers may find formula milk feeding convenient, but in fact, it can bring various problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"ch1_2_1\">Disadvantages of feeding babies with formula milk:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Compared to breastmilk:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ingredients of formula milk\u00a0<strong>do not provide optimal nutrition<\/strong>\u00a0for the baby&#8217;s growth, including the development of the brain, eyes and other organs.<\/li>\n<li>Formula-fed babies are\u00a0<strong>more susceptible to allergies<\/strong>\u00a0(such as eczema) when compared to breastfed babies. They may be allergic to cow&#8217;s milk protein.<\/li>\n<li>Formula milk is more\u00a0<strong>difficult to digest<\/strong>\u00a0and may cause constipation more often.<\/li>\n<li>Formula milk is manufactured by refining and processing cow&#8217;s milk and therefore\u00a0<strong>does not contain antibodies and living immune cells<\/strong>, making the baby more susceptible to infections (such as colds, pneumonia, middle ear infection and diarrhoea).<\/li>\n<li>Your baby needs to wait for the preparation of formula milk when hungry, so it is\u00a0<strong>not always simple and convenient<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Formula milk is not sterile:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Contamination<\/strong>\u00a0by bacteria or chemical substances\u00a0<strong>can occur<\/strong>\u00a0during the manufacturing, transportation, storage and milk preparation process.<\/li>\n<li>The feeding\u00a0<strong>equipment must be disinfected<\/strong>\u00a0before each feed and the multi-stepped proper preparation of formula milk must be followed to reduce the risk of formula feeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Problems with feeding babies with formula milk:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your baby does not take the lead when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/baby\/breastfeeding-and-bottle-feeding\/bottle-feeding\/advice\/\">bottle feeding<\/a>. If the caregiver misses the hunger and fullness cues of the baby, the baby\u00a0<strong>may be overfed<\/strong>\u00a0and become an overweight child. &#8220;Eating more&#8221; is not equal to being &#8220;healthier.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>When other people feed the baby, the mother needs to\u00a0<strong>grasp opportunities to have time to bond with her baby<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Feeding babies with formula milk\u00a0<strong>increases household spending<\/strong>, including the purchase of formula milk powder, bottles, dummies, sterilising equipment and so on. Also, there are the additional medical expenses, as the baby is more prone to illnesses.<\/li>\n<li>There is a\u00a0<strong>possibility<\/strong>\u00a0that the brand of formula milk your baby is used to\u00a0<strong>runs out of stock<\/strong>, creating unnecessary worries for the parents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"border border-primary\">\n<p>Directly breastfeeding the baby is the most natural way. After careful consideration, if you still decide to bottle-feed (either expressed breastmilk or formula milk), you must learn as much as you can about how to do it as safely as possible.
